This stunningly beautiful candle is named for Josephine Baker, the iconic vaudeville dancer, spy, and Black feminist activist. The heroic Baker helped defeat the Nazis as a spy, collecting information while performing in France, then returned to the U.S. and became an activist, fighting racist policy in her home country. FounderTeri Johnsonuses her candles to pay homage to the Harlem Renaissance—each candle is an education in the beauty and richness of Black American artists of the last century. The Josephine borrows from the actual scents of Baker's boudoir: bergamot, Moroccan rose, Indian jasmine, liquid amber, sweet tonka bean, and sandalwood.
